Underground Mine Technician

Job Description

To provide general support to the geological technical services department at the Waihi Underground Operation. Suitable physical fitness is a key requirement of the position. Basic computer competency and aptitude with Microsoft Office suite.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Comply with all site safe work practices and instructions.
• Sample and photograph core at the underground and surface core logging facilities.
• Assist geologists with underground mapping and general ore control duties.
• Sample collection, collation and transportation.
• Dispatch of samples to the analytical laboratory.
• Carry out sample storage activities.
• Photograph underground development and assist with creating 3D scans of the underground workings.
• Monitor stocks of consumables associated with underground ore control activities.
