The Surgical Technologist (ST) functions as an integral member of a team of care providers in the Operating Rooms of the Ohio State University Surgery Center. The surgical teams reflect a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of maximizing patient care outcomes, improving customer service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization and decreasing costs. Patients and their family will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.

The Surgical Technologist performs technical skills related to intra-operative patient care. The ST is generally assigned to perform the scrub role in various surgical procedures and also performs routine unit tasks.
