Summary The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in the Exhibition Production Department, Office of Building Renovation & Exhibition Services (OBRES), National Museum of American History (NMAH). NMAH is home to more than 1.8 million objects and more than three shelf-miles of archival collections, preserving and sharing the greatest single collection of American history in the world. Responsibilities The Supervisory Exhibits Specialist is the head of the Fabrication Shop and supervises a team of full-time exhibition specialists, as well as occasional interns and detailers, who are responsible for the fabrication and installation of exhibitions and exhibition components. Other responsibilities include the daily oversight of the Metal Shop, Paint Shop and Plastic Shop, all within the Fabrication Shop.
