SUPERVISORY ASTRONOMER

Summary You will serve as a Supervisory Astronomer in the Celestial Reference Frame Department of NAVOBSERV. Responsibilities You will perform supervisory duties such as timekeeping, budget submissions, and work scheduling. You will be principally responsible for the development and execution of Advance Technology Division (ATD) programs and projects. You will initiate, and guide new and complex research. You will conceive, organize and analyze experiments in astronomy and astrophysics and related scientific and engineering disciplines to evaluate the limits in the accuracy of given measurement systems. You will devise novel methods of analyzing and presenting Celestial Reference Frame (CRF) and related data. You will measure the precise positions, motions, brightnesses of the celestial bodies, maintain the celestial reference frame, and calculate Earth orientation parameters.
