Job Summary

The Archaeology Branch is a passionate and collaborative team within the Provincial Operations Division of the Ministry of Forests, dedicated to safeguarding British Columbia’s irreplaceable archaeological heritage. Through meaningful partnerships with First Nations and engagement with archaeologists, industry, developers, property owners, and government agencies, the Branch works to protect archaeological sites and support responsible land and resource management across the province. From administering permits under the Heritage Conservation Act and maintaining the Provincial Heritage Register of more than 62,000 recorded sites, to advancing policy and supporting reconciliation, the team’s work has a lasting impact on preserving and celebrating BC’s diverse cultural history.
