Our modern, purpose-built City Hospital first opened in 2010, with our UKAS accredited Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology department staffed by a friendly, busy and professional team of highly motivated BMS, and ATO support workers, dealing with around half a million samples per year.

The laboratory work encompasses tracked Clinical Biochemistry systems (with automated pre- and post-analytics) and specialist testing including high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Our Department is an IBMS registered training facility, offering support for Registration and Specialist Portfolios as well as the Higher Specialist Diploma. Staff are encouraged to undertake further training and development and, if interested, undertake roles in the laboratory quality management system.
