Under the direction of the Port Captain, the Qualified Mariner 3 is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the U.S. Army LCM's and Ferry, or Catamaran Class vessels at Kwajalein or Roi Namur Islands. The Qualified Mariner 3 may also be allowed to serve as an RMI “mate” aboard the Great Bridge or Mystic based on training and experience; The vessel transits are near coastal areas within Kwajalein Atoll waters, which are designated as international waters for maritime regulatory purposes; Operates and maintains the assigned vessel and barges; Operates vessel with due regards to on time departures and safe navigation; Maintains log book and all associated vessel paperwork and certifications; Determines parts, supplies, and material requirements f...
