Psychiatrist

The Department of Psychiatry at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital (NRGH) is looking for General Psychiatrists to provide locum services.

Nanaimo’s Department of Psychiatry consists of adult, child and youth and geriatric psychiatrists working in community and acute settings.

Acute services are provided at NRGH, which has 356 acute care beds and a 24-bed inpatient psychiatry unit. In September 2012 our new Emergency Department opened, which a 4-bed Psychiatric intensive Care Unit (PICU) and busy Psychiatric Emergency Service (PES).

Community services are provided through community mental health and substance use treatment teams. These community teams provide rehab support and case management for adults, as well as consultation and psychiatric clinical services for primary care referrals.

The locum Psychiatrist would be joining a collegial psychiatrist group from acute and community settings within the Nanaimo Mental Health and Substance Use programs. Ps...
