Painter II - Paint Shop

Position Purpose

Under general supervision, performs skilled brush, roller, and spray painting, and applies coats of paint, varnish, stain, enamel, or lacquer to decorate and protect exterior and interior surfaces, trimmings, and fixtures of buildings and structures throughout the District.

Maintenance & Repair

Prepares surfaces for painting, including sanding and removing old paint, filling holes, cracks, and joints with appropriate filler; tapes, floats, and textures walls and ceilings.

Paints surfaces, using brushes, spray gun, paint rollers, or other methods to achieve required effects. Stains, seals, and varnishes wood surfaces. Surfaces include but are not limited to: interior and exterior walls, glass, plaster, brick, stucco, cement, and wallboard woodwork, and metalwork of buildings and equipment, such as tables, cabinets, rooms, halls, auditoriums, roofs, fences, and p...
