Occasional Ojibwe Language Teacher

The Ojibwe Language Teacher will provide Ojibwe language instruction and support the implementation of the York Region District School Board's First Nation, Métis and Inuit Education Strategy at northern YRDSB schools, coordinating with the Regional Ojibwe Language Team and the Ojibwe Language Coordinator.

Qualifications / Experience

• Experience with conversational Ojibwe, experience teaching the language, and fluency would be an asset.
• Applications from those that are not currently OCT qualified members will be considered.
• Information technology skills are an asset.
• Land-based learning and Anishinaabek cultural knowledge are an asset.
• Experience with Indigenous pedagogy and educational interconnection is an asset.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively on a team.
• First Nations background and/or experience teaching Indigenous children.
