The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) is a nonprofit agricultural research centre founded in 1999 by the Islamic Development Bank, the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development, and the government of the United Arab Emirates. ICBA focuses on biosaline and arid environments, where an estimated 1.7 billion people live. It develops, tests and promotes resource‑efficient, climate‑smart crops and technologies tailored to regions affected by salinity, water scarcity and drought, improving food security and livelihoods for some of the world’s poorest rural communities.
