The Institute

The Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) is an international biomedical research institute of excellence based in Barcelona, Spain. With more than 400 scientists from 34 countries, IBEC is part of the CERCA Network and the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST). It has been recognised consecutively as a Research Center of Excellence through the Severo Ochoa Program of the Spanish Ministry of Science and Universities. IBEC’s research focuses on the deeper understanding, organisation and prediction, analysis, modulation and control of living systems to improve health and quality of life for people.
