Overview
Works under the supervision of the Trauma Services Manager to provide ethically sound, evidenced-based trauma-informed therapeutic services for patients/victims of crime including individual and group therapy, assessment, treatment planning, and documentation, in order to reduce the effects of traumatic events and develop effective strategies for recovery and devise skills that will encourage healthy coping strategies. A Trauma Therapist's ultimate goal is to guide patients to process their trauma in a safe and controlled environment at the in-hospital setting or via telehealth and through follow-up for up to one year. The Trauma Therapist will also provide information on referrals, assistance with victim compensation applications as well as support, advocacy and accompaniment to crime victims/patients.
