HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC

Summary You will serve as a HEAVY MOBILE EQUIPMENT MECHANIC in the CRANE MAINTENANCE DIVISION, LIFTING AND HANDLING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will disassemble, repair, and assemble machinery and equipment components such as hoist, travel, swing, and boom assemblies. You will remove, install, and align travel, hoist, brake, and drive motors; gasoline and diesel engines. You will fabricate eight-inch piping to exhaust systems. You will perform machining operations associated with repairs such as reboring, cylinders, bearings, bushings, turning or grinding shafts, pistons, brake drums, wheels, and manufacture of replacement parts.
