Kearl is one of Canada’s highest‑quality oil sands deposits, developed using advanced mining methods and next‑generation technologies. Since startup in 2013, Kearl has become a cornerstone of Imperial’s upstream business, producing approximately 280,000 barrels per day.

Kearl operates as a fully integrated Autonomous Haulage System (AHS) mine, utilizing Caterpillar Minestar technology with a fleet of autonomous CAT 797 haul trucks. Our success relies on the seamless integration of people, process, and technology to safely deliver reliable and efficient production.
