JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/Objective

The Crane Operator is responsible for operating the gantry cranes in a safe, efficient, and effective manner to load and unload cargo to and from the vessel. The Crane Operator is responsible for practicing safe work habits and for maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

  • Employee is responsible for the operation of gantry cranes used in heavy lifting and loading and unloading of containers and break-bulk cargo on vessels. 
  • Operates gantry crane to hoist equipment and materials in a safe and efficient manner. 
  • Is responsible for the safe operation of the crane and the safety of the gang on and off the ship. 
  • Demonstrates knowledge of safe rigging practices.
