Job overview

The post holder will participate in the dissection of categories A-E histopathology specimens as per RCPath guidelines and departmental SOPs and be included in the resident doctor dissection rota.

The post holder will participate in the development of the specimen dissectors as directed by the Specialty doctors and consultants.

Additional duties may include routine BMS Band 7 duties

Main duties of the job

Histology Specimen Dissection

•Participate in the dissection of categories A-E histopathology specimens as per RCPath

•Dissect and select relevant material for histological processing to enable accurate diagnosis of disease in the subsequent histology sections.

•Select appropriate preparatory procedures to aid diagnostic interpretation e.g. decalcification etc.

•In co-operation with the Departmental Training Officer and Specialty doctors to train trainee BM...
