Description

The Advanced Computing Solutions Group in the NLR Computational Science Center has an opening for a graduate student researcher interested in benchmarking High Performance Computing (HPC) systems in order to evaluate AI/ML workflows.

We are looking for a motivated graduate student with previous programming/computing experience and an interest in the mission of NLR. The successful candidate will collaborate with NLR staff and researchers in evaluating the Chakra/Astra-Sim toolsuite in order to profile AI/ML workflows on current HPC hardware and model performance on potential future hardware.

Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating the feasibility of the Chakra/Astra-Sim toolsuite for potential profiling and performance projection use by interested NLR researchers
  • Executing AI/ML benchmarks on diverse high-performance hardware
  • Obtaining, processing, and analyzing profiling and projection results from Chakra/Astra-Sim
