Cardiac Sonographer - Echocardiology

Echocardiography is the use of highly sophisticated ultrasound technology for the evaluation of cardiac anatomy, function and hemodynamics. The Cardiac Sonographer utilizes equipment using comprehensive specialized education and accepted protocols to obtain diagnostic recordings of cardiac ultrasound images and doppler hemodynamic data with indirect supervision from the cardiac physician. The Cardiac Sonographer evaluates and records pathological findings, obtains measurements and calculations, then prepares a summary of the findings which is later reviewed by the Echocardiologist for final reporting. The Cardiac Sonographer discusses exams with the Echocardiologist using PACS and recorded information; maintains accurate patient files; records appropriate and timely information in the computer; maintains a professional attitude; and practices good patient care at all times.
