The*Montana Department of Transportation (MDT)*is recruiting for an Accountant. This position is responsible for ensuring accounting treatment is recorded in accordance with GAAP, maintain accurate and reliable financial statements, and establish and maintain internal controls. Conducts financial monitoring to ensure cost efficiency and compliance within the Department’s accounting, budgeting and fiscal bureaus. Assists with maintaining the database of MDT assets. This position ensures state compliance with complex federal regulations and establishes goals, objectives and priorities for all accounting functions. Provides technical assistance to division/district financial contacts, budget analysts, and project management to ensure consistent application of policies and procedures.
